Enjoys birthday shenanigans

four months...

WARNING: This journal is kind of boring. I do not expect anyone to read it, it's usually just used for me wasting time. Don't feel any obligation to continue any further.

And I'd gotten into the habit of updating twice a month!

Oh well, A lot has happened.

-I'm a senior, classes are going well.

-I've applied to three colleges, gotten accepted at two of them so far.

-I've joined a new club- Quiz Bowl.

-The play was two weeks ago and it went well- I'm a sound techie and now I'm training freshman to do it next year.

-Went to New York with the band from Saturday through Wednesday. So much fun, so many stories, but that would take forever.

-Which reminds me... No more football games! It's so sad, but I didn't cry at all! I was proud.

Yeah... When I break it down and don't go into too much depth, I guess not much DID happen in the last four months... Ah well, it's great anyway!

A few of my favorite things...

Now, many people, even those I am close to, don't know this about me: I love commercials. Especially when they aren't supposed to be funny but are anyways... One of my favorite things.

Now, for a while one of my favorites has been the viagra type commercials...

"Before you take this, make sure you are healthy enough to HAVE sex".

Not sure why, but it gets me every time.

Another of my favorites is a commercial to get a class action law suit together against someone or another over mesothelioma.

"If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, you may have sevral questions: What IS mesothelioma? How did I get this disease?..."

...Yeah, I kinda do want to know what the disease is, and I hope to figure out how I got it. lol, again, something about it just makes me laugh.

Now, in another class all itself is when a commercial starts and cuts off halfway through. Sometimes you get funny little snippets like "Are you tired of your expensive wireless bill" end or something silly like that, but I have a recent favorite... Same thing has happened a few times...

Announcer guy:"Xara(?) has never been to Barbados..."
Ticket guy:"Welcome to Barbados"hands over ticket

And that's where it cuts off into the next commercial. Again, I see this and burst out laughing...

Just thought it's always nice to share something funny. <3

Updates all around

I just got back from Buckeye Girl's State, which was one of the coolest things I have ever done. The girls in my "City" (they were on the same floor in my dorm) were really nice, we all got along. It was just a fantastic experience, so if anybody you know ever has a chance to go to Girl's state (there is one in every state I believe) definately push them to go. It's fun and really interesting.

Other than that, I just got my ACT scores back, and I did a little better this time. :) I had a 31, now I have a 32. Don't know if that one point was worth all the money, but I am almost definately not taking it again. Too early and too much money for something that I probably won't do as well again.

We also had milkshakes. yumyum. I love milkshakes! (because they bring all the boys to the yard and they're like... "Give me milkshakes plz!")

I got my license a few weeks ago... That's pretty sweet. So, if you live in the Greater Toledo Area, watch out. I'm not that great. Dx

Other than all that, life is rather average.

Well, I feel like a failure now...

Need I say more?

Is that not the coolest thing you've ever seen? And if you listen to the horns audition videos... Awesome. I suppose I'm really jealous because lately I've noticed that my playing has been getting worse... Like, I suck more now. Why? I don't know. I kind of want my old school horn, to see if maybe it's the way my horn plays differently... The old horn was all bent up and such, but it was thicker. Stronger. My new horn feels like it'll tear if I blow too hard...

I don't know... Maybe it's the color. That sounds funny, but maybe I'm just more used to the darker sound of my old horn... It was dark brassy color, and my new horn is silver which sounds brighter to me. It's a fact that horns with different plating of all kind make different sounds. Trust me.

lol

I don't know, I'm just bound to be depressed every once in a while... I need to get my horn home to practice, then I'll be amazing! I'm sure of it.

And I still can't decide what I want to do for college... It's coming. Fast. At least I have my majors mostly divided to groups... I'm going to major in one of music education, English education, or History Education... I like the idea of being a teacher, but only if it's a high school teacher. And I might double major with any of those in a language...

I love languages, I can speak a bit of french, Russian, and Japanese... not much, but I have a year of Russian from fifth grade, a half year of Japanese from middle school, and 3, going on 4, years of french from high school. I also know a bit of Spanish from a half year I took in middle school and listening/talking with my sister and friends.

But where I want to go is another story... There are so many colleges, and I don't want to go to one that's too close to home. Love my family, but they're very much a crutch. But then there's the cost factor. Right now I have about a 3.9 GPA and a 31 on my ACT, so I will get some for acedemic scholarships, but I don't do any sports. And my family makes quite a bit of money. So, even though my parents aren't going to pay for my college, I am not going to get any financial aid. Sad.

I did find the perfect college for me, though... Decent size, sevral degrees in the areas I'd like to study, and located in a town I feel like I could live for four years of my life... But it would cost nearly 40k a year. Yeah, can't afford that. I don't think they'd loan me that, especially not since they think I'm just going to be a teacher. (I plan on building on my degree to go to law school)

What does this all mean?

Well, I feel like a failure now.

A lot has happened...

Sun Mar 29, 2009, 4:48 PM
WARNING: This journal is kind of boring. I do not expect anyone to read it, it's usually just used for me wasting time. Don't feel any obligation to continue any further.

So yeah... As the title says, a lot has happened since February. Let's start at the earliest thing I can remember that will make any kind of interesting story.

So, we had our Model United Nations competition... Our school was representing Australia. Now, if you've never been to a Model UN competition, how this one works is you have a group of 5 students on each delegation. (one country) Each student has a specific committee (I was on the legal- there was also political, special political, science/technology, and humanitarian) They spend two days in their committee working to submit resolutions to four topics. Then, on the second to last day we go to General Assembly where all the delegations get together and we try to pass all of the resolutions.

So, we're doing well, my topic was last. In order to tell my teamates how we feel about each clause, I made a smiley to sad face spectrum (5 faces) to portray it... lol.

Anyway, we get to awards. There are two highest honors winners and four second honors winners in each category. We had two students get second honors in their respective committees, and then our entire team won highest honors in GA! Out of like 60 consels, we were in the top two!

Now, in order to portray how cool this is, we weren't even sure we were going to be able to go until, like, two weeks before competition. We meet and get together once a week for less than an hour after school while many schools have a class devoted to Model UN during school every day. There are people who get graded for that comp, yet the little, middle of nowhere school with one delegation won highest honors! Then our advisor won second honors for most prepared school, even though one of our members didn't submit any of her research which was a "requirement" to win, according to the website.

hmm...

Also one of our members won in Crisis, which is a mini competition to break up the monotony of GA. It's fun- what they do is you go one person per delegation into a room- you cycle through at the same time that GA is going on, and there are 5 crisis rooms, so you're only with certain countries. There, the person will give you a crisis that is "going on" and you try and solve it in real time.

It's fun. Venezuela won in my group, and, as I said, we did have one student win her group.

At the same time was Band Competition... Unfortunately I could not make it, along with two others in Model UN. But we had two bands going, one of freshman and sophomores, the other of juniors and seniors... The juniors and seniors got a 3 (horrible) and a 2 (a little better) in sight reading... The freshmen and sophomores got either a 1 or 2... Can't remember... But yeah. They totally pawned the upperclassmen... It's kind of embarrasing... So our underclassmen made it to states. lol.

I made it into National honors Society! I don't remember when the ceremony is... Tomorrow? Eh, doesn't much matter. But I'm excited for that... I had the Model UN advisor write my snippet of awesomeness (she was also my AP US History teacher) and omg, she is so amazing to me. She thinks way too highly of me.

I love her. lol.

And the play was yesturday. (well, last show) The cast did amazing, I was so proud. I had a lot of friends in this one. (I usually have a few, but a bunch more joined for the musical)

We did Wonderful Town, so if you've never heard of it, youtube it. The songs are really catchy, especially Swing! Most people love the Conga song, but Swing is awesomer (lol- honors English what?) in my opinion.

And I'm beginning to doubt my career choices... And I haven't even started college! I am realizing how much I really suck at music... idk if I'm good enough to be a music directer! I kind of want to teach a language... Or History. And, no matter what I go into, I do want to go into law. But what do I want to do first? idk... But whatever.

As always, amazing!
